Trad to Rad! Embroidered Crazy Patchwork Cuff

Turn traditional Victorian crazy patchwork on its head and use this versatile technique to create a stylish modern cuff bracelet embellished with beads and a variety of embroidery stitches.

In this workshop experienced textile artist and tutor Alex Hall will teach you how to connect precious scraps of fabric with Feather Stitch, the traditional joining stitch used in Victorian crazy patchwork, enhance and embellish the fabric patches with a range of embroidery stitches and finally join the patchwork to the backing with a simple beaded edging to complete the cuff.

Everything you will need to stitch your cuff will be provided and all materials are included, although you are welcome to bring your own precious fabric scraps, threads and seed beads if you wish.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available during short comfort breaks throughout the session. There will be also be a short lunch break in the middle of the class, so feel free to bring lunch with you or buy it from the many cafes near the gallery. 

Alex Hall is a creative magpie and jack of all trades. As an embroiderer, textile artist, upcycler, bookbinder and experienced tutor, she’s always on the lookout for shiny new ideas and techniques to spark her imagination. However, her first love is textiles and that is a huge part of pretty much everything else she dabbles in. She enjoys both supporting novice stitchers and facilitating experienced embroiderers to get the most out of her workshops and going ‘off piste’ is most definitely encouraged.
