Express Yourself – Rude Pottery Plates

Join us for a hand-building pottery workshop where you can craft your own unique plates and trinket dishes – with a twist! In this playful session, you’ll learn how to roll out, cut and drape clay over moulds. You can then press in your favorite phrases, adding a dash of personality (or profanity!) to your pieces. Whether you fancy a plate that tells people to “Bugger Off” or a delicate trinket dish with a bold “Keep Your Crap Here,” this workshop invites you to embrace your cheeky side. Fiona especially loves to add some sass with a swear or two. So let your inner rebel loose, and make dishes that truly speak your mind!

Using moulds and hand building techniques, make a square, round or oval plate or pin dish. Add your own rude message and embossed decoration. In the time available you may make one or more (up to 3) plates or trinket dishes.

Following the workshop, your creations will be kiln fired. Then Fiona will apply coloured glaze and re-fire them. Fiona will bring glaze samples to the workshop so you can choose the colours you require. Finished plates will be available to collect from the gallery about 3 to 4 weeks after the workshop.

You will be guided by professional artist and ceramicist Fiona Hodges.

Clay and firing are included in the price.

• Please wear suitable clothes as you will be using clay. An apron will be provided for your use while at the workshop.
