Workshops at Lincoln Castle – Hatching Dragon Clay Sculpting

12 July 10.30am to 3.30pm at Lincoln Castle Heritage Skills Centre.

Join us for a creative and fun-filled workshop where you’ll learn the art of sculpting a hatching dragon using stoneware clay! This workshop is perfect for beginners, so no prior experience is needed. Under the expert guidance of our skilled tutor, Fiona Hodges, youโ€™ll receive step-by-step instruction and demonstration to help you bring your very own dragon to life.

Throughout the session, you’ll explore the basics of sculpting with stoneware clay, learning essential techniques to shape, mould, and add details to your dragon. All materials are provided, so you can focus on your creative process without worrying about supplies.

By the end of the workshop, youโ€™ll have crafted a unique hatching dragon. Your creation will be carefully dried and fired, and once it’s ready, you can collect it from Indigo Crow Gallery or opt for it to be posted to your UK address. This process can take around 3 to 4 weeks.

This is a wonderful opportunity to try your hand at clay sculpting, unleash your creativity, and create a memorable piece of artwork!

Materials: All provided. Includes glazing and kiln firing costs.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or anyone who would like to spend time learning how to hand build a sculpture in clay. It is for adults or accompanied children 14 and over.

Please note:

  • Clay can be drying for hands
  • Itโ€™s not recommended to eat or drink with clay or glaze on hands so wash hands after handling
  • We will take a short break for lunch. Please bring your lunch with you, or you can get lunch at Langton’s Cafe at the Castle or in one of the cafes nearby.
