Spectrum is a solo show of Sally Khengโ€™s work, inspired by the Lincolnshire landscape.

Sally lives in Lincolnshire and enjoys the vast open landscapes and big skies, sketching outside whenever possible. Her sketchbook observations form the basis of most of the painting work done back in her studio. Sally teaches watercolour painting and is also a qualified silversmith.

She paints strikingly colourful landscapes and seascapes, often in her exaggerated palette of black lines, turquoise, pinks and greens. Her painting style originates from training in fine art and also graphic design, so there is a love of shape and geometrics combined with observational sketching and painting at the root.

Materials and media for this collection of work range from acrylic paint applied directly onto board or canvas to vibrant watercolour inks with collage and sometimes stitch. These are dynamic and imaginative works, stretching the concept of what a landscape can be. Whilst leaning on abstract, Sally still retaining the feeling of landscapes, perspective and simplified tree shapes.

Spectrum will open on 4th June and will run until the 16th at Indigo Crow Gallery in Lincoln. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-4pm. Sally will be teaching several workshops during June, click here for more information.
