Alison Kemp

I’ve always loved crafting, and spent many years doing mixed media, which I now include in my abstract work.

During this time I had a dabble into Mosaic and stained glass, which finally led into the world of Kiln Fired Glass.

Many of my pieces are inspired by nature – I spend hours taking pictures of the trees, and beaches, which gives me the inspiration behind my work.

I also make screens from parts of my photos, which I then incorporate into my work with special enamels. I like nothing better than getting messy, it drives my husband nuts!

All my art is made in my little studio, then fired in my kiln for many hours. Each piece is fired at least twice as I like to add texture and movement.

Just running my fingers over all the little handmade pebbles on a beach scene, takes me back to a relaxing day at the beach, and lets me take a breath.

I still get a thrill when I open my kiln, and see my work for the first time.
