Fiona Hodges

I work mainly in ceramics and collage. On occasions I feel the urge to paint.

My sculptural art takes a peculiar look at the famous and infamous with oddball, humorous sculptures. Most of my sculptures are a loving homage to the personality, although those of a more political nature are far more caustic and satirical. I work in ceramics, mainly stoneware and porcelain.

In my painting and mixed media work I find myself increasingly drawn towards abstract and a sense of the absurd, comical and unconventional. Although in my meanderings I will occasionally be captured by a desire to create a figurative painting.

I came to art later in life. Despite taking a career break in 2006 to 2009 to complete a fine art degree, I have only been able to focus on my art practice since 2020 when I was finally able to leave the corporate life behind. And I’m loving it.

At Indigo Crow I am looking forward to teaching workshops in both ceramics and collage.
