Create Your Own Collagraph Plates to Print onto Fabric
Collagraph is an exciting relatively simple way to make printing plates which opens up all kinds of creative opportunities. In this full day workshop you can learn how to create several textured print plates and then print them onto a fabric base.
Get creative! Learn how to assemble a variety of textured materials on a rigid surface. Then glue/ fix these in place. The plate is now ready to be inked up.
Collagraph is an intaglio printing technique. Ink is rubbed into all the textured & grooves. Then wiped off the smooth high surface.
During this workshop you will produce several textured print plates. Which we will use to print onto fabric.
The plates will be made by sticking a selection of materials on a mount board base.
We will use printing inks suitable for printing on fabrics.
1) Create a textured print plates by fixing a variety of textured materials.
2) Ink up your textured plate ready for the press.
3) Pass the textured print plate through the press to produce a good clean image.
You will be shown how to build texture on your plates & how to ink the textured plate
By the end of this workshop you have a set of textured print plates plus a selection of fabric pieces that you have printed on using your print plates.
