Business Skills for Artists: Day 1: Creative Foundations: Map Your Practice, Plan Your Path

Foundational planning for artists who want to grow with purpose.

Whether you’re fresh to being an artist, mid-career, or navigating a shift in your creative practice, this one-day workshop offers a chance to pause, reflect, and plan with intention. Creative Foundations combines guided self-reflection, practical exercises, and supportive discussion to help you:

  • Assess where you are in your artistic journey — creatively, professionally, and personally
  • Explore how you manage your time, energy, and studio space
  • Define clear short- and long-term goals aligned with your values
  • Learn key legal and business essentials every artist should know

By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a personalized roadmap, fresh clarity, and practical tools to support both your art and your life.

NOTE: This is part of a 3-day series of workshops. Each workshop day can be booked individually to suit your specific needs and schedule. Whether you’re just starting to get clear on your artistic goals, ready to define your brand, or eager to dive into marketing and promotion, you can join the sessions that best match where you are in your creative journey.

However, participants who attend all three days gain the greatest benefit. The series is designed as a comprehensive progression. Building from self-reflection and foundational planning to branding and finally strategic marketing. Completing the full program provides a cohesive framework that supports sustainable growth, ensuring you leave with a well-rounded, actionable plan tailored to your unique practice and goals.

By the end of the series, you’ll have a personalised roadmap, more clarity on your artistic identity, and a strategic plan to promote your art and connect with the right audiences.

Join us and let us help you turn your creative passion into a business by developing practical skills tailored for artists.

Feedback from previous workshops:

“I found the content answered all the questions I had as an amateur artist who would like to exhibit and sell her work, and more besides.  Fiona made the sessions a helpful mix of educational and interactive.  She prompted us to reflect on where we are and the thing, or things, that might be holding us back and what we see as our greatest challenges now. All of which was very helpful and prompted me to think about stuff I would not have considered had I not gone on the workshops. “

“I can’t recommend this set of workshops enough. I now have the tools I need to push myself forward as a textile artist. We all came away with a file full of fantastically curated information, pointers, references. I will be dipping in & out of this file for years to come. Well worth the money & time. I would highly recommend. Thank you.”

“Professional Trainer Fiona presented a wealth of material interspersed by regular pauses throughout for written self reflection. This enabled us to break down a mass of ideas into action points with which to move forward. In addition to extensive notes there were super appendices detailing address contacts and inspiration for developing our working practise.”
