Flux is a solo exhibition by Fiona Hodges – 7 to 19 October 2025.
Following the sudden and unexpected death of her husband in late 2024, Fiona found herself in a state of emotional and creative uncertainty.
This show as a whole presents a combination of works made before and after this traumatic and life-changing event. Much of the artwork reflects the process of making as a way through.

Moving across mediums and styles, the work reflects a search for meaning and identity in the aftermath of loss. Through layering, shaping, cutting, and assembling, Fiona has embraced making as a process of healing — a way to make sense of loss and reconnect with herself. Embracing uncertainty not just as a theme, but as a method. Flux invites viewers into that space of in-betweenness: open-ended, evolving, and not always finished, by design.
Rather than offering resolution, Flux inhabits the unsettled space between grief and growth, structure and disarray, voice and silence. It’s not about arriving at answers. It’s about embracing weirdness, the messiness of process, and the courage it takes to keep making anyway.

But while grief is part of the story, so is humour, something which Fiona injected into her work prior to her recent loss. Some of her newer works continue to carry this strange, quirky energy and have been described as “quite bonkers”. This playfulness becomes its own kind of therapy, offering relief, perspective, and space to experiment.
