Deepford Artists
The Deepford Artists group are delighted to bring their exhibition ‘Fusion’ to the Indigo Crow Gallery in Lincoln.
The exhibition celebrates various methods of working and celebrates the integration of different art practices such as paint, print and ceramics.
Each piece compliments each other and showcases the diversity of practices within our art community who are based either in Deeping or Stamford, both situated on the borders of Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. Read on for more information about the artists exhibiting.

Stephanie Bowden Hughes
Hello, I’m Steph, a self-taught potter based just outside Stamford in rural Lincolnshire.
My pottery started as a hobby that turned into an obsession and is now my job!
Each piece is handmade on my potter’s wheel, bisque fired, then glazed by hand, and fired again making each one unique. I work with black, grey and speckled stoneware clay as well as porcelain. I like clean lines and enjoy showing the contrast of the raw unglazed clay with simple glazes. Most of my work is functional, with occasional decorative pieces.
I have recently started working with willow and love the smoothness of the clay against the rough rustic willow. Together, clay and willow have taken over, it has all got a bit out of hand, and I couldn’t be happier!

Wendy Quinnell
A contemporary artist working with mixed media and oils. Wendy’s design background and life events influence her work.
Her art is constantly evolving, experimenting with various effects that evoke emotions and bring back memories, with an interest in human connections and physical body shapes, exploring a wide range of issues with a distorted sense of realism. She paints using texture and colour, working with oils, mixed media on different surfaces, with a sense of “about” rather than “of”.
Wendy has exhibited at ING Discerning Eye Exhibition at The Mall Galleries London, The Espacio Gallery Shoreditch London, as well as other galleries in Stamford, Peterborough, Cambridge, Ely, Wisbech and Sleaford. She works from her studio in Lincolnshire. She has studied with award winning artist, Martin Kinnear, exploring classical and modern oil painting, referencing painters throughout history to discover how they created their work. She has appeared on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year and is a member of the Deepford Artists and the Lincolnshire Artists Society.

Emily Bowers
Emily is an artist who is deeply inspired by the natural world and our connection to it. Through her work, she hopes to create conversation and engage people in the arts.

Ellie Sandall
Ellie Sandall is a picture book author and illustrator, and also works in ceramics. Her work at the moment is largely inspired by dogs! Her latest picture book features lots of them, and she has been busy making ceramic dogs too. She loves creating work inspired by animals and nature.’

Ruth Hudson
Ruth Hudson is an experimental print maker and painter.
Her original linocuts are printed on an 1856 lithograph press from her home studio in Stamford.
After studying Combined Arts at Newcastle University, Ruth went on to train at the Chelsea School of Art and the Leicester Print Workshop. Her work is influenced by her previous career working in Interior and fashion magazine production.

Hannah Bigley
Hannah’s current body of work, in both ceramic and print, explores natural landscapes, and the organic shapes and earthy colours within. First inspired from a road trip around California, her work has since moved on to almost ‘dream-like’ scapes direct from the imagination or memories. Growing up in the flats of The Fens, mountains are very much still a novelty and wonder, which continue to inspire. The sun and moon feature heavily in her work, often displayed in the same piece, depicting those still, endless days where both are often visible in the sky.
Her practise focuses heavily on both printmaking, and ceramics; she appreciates a slow, steady and considered approach to creating, with an element of surprise as often is the case with both.

Nicola Devas Dip.art
Nicola paints in oils and finds her inspiration in the paintings of Matisse, particularly in the way he uses and places colour.
Her purpose is to conjure up emotion from both nature and the everyday objects we see around us. A painting should make you want to go back and keep looking at it.
In these troubled times that aim is to provoke feelings of joy, security and serenity.
She has had exhibitions in London, Chesham and the local area.
