Fishing Fleet in Ink and Watercolour
Join me for a day of painting traditional fishing boats in fluid ink and watercolours.
We are staying local, taking the colourful fishing fleet in the Wash as our inspiration.
Boats have a lot of personality and are a great subject for mixing linework with colour and texture.
Using a step by step approach, we will build up our painting in layers and practice a variety of techniques:
- Mixing fluid ink with watercolour
- Creating a rustic effect on the boats
- Varying the linework between fluid inks and ink pens
- Clarifying how perspective applies to boat shapes
- Considering shadows and reflections
All these techniques are transferable to other artwork you might paint.
Take home your painting, new ideas and inspiration.

Karin Christensen is a Lincolnshire based artist working mainly in watercolours. She teaches workshops in the UK and Norway.
