Description
Ice & Snow in Watercolour
Dive into a world of glacial ice, light and texture in this contemporary watercolour and mixed-media workshop, inspired by professional artist Sally Kheng’s recent expedition to Antarctica. Designed for anyone who loves painting and wants to explore new ideas, materials and ways of working.
You’ll create two mixed-media paintings and a set of handmade cards to take home, using expressive watercolour techniques layered with mixed media. The day begins with a short atmospheric film of Antarctic ice and seascapes to spark ideas for colour, mood and composition, supported by photographic reference throughout (Don’t worry, the radiators will be on!).
Sally will demonstrate each stage of the process, sharing brush techniques, tools and materials in a clear, easy-to-follow way so you can confidently develop your own work. Each participant receives a beautiful six-pan set of Glacial shimmer paints to use and keep, along with 50 blank cards, envelopes and cellophane sleeves to continue creating at home.
A wide range of materials will be available at Indigo Crow to experiment with, including watercolour inks, black acrylic ink, wax resist crayons, collage papers and abaca transfer papers.
Please bring some lunch or visit the excellent deli next door during the 30-minute break. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available throughout the day.
All materials are provided (you’re welcome to bring favourite brushes or paints).
