Painted Backgrounds & Hand Stitch Collage
This workshop is fun & creative, suitable for all levels. The morning of this workshop will be spent, mixing different colours for our backgrounds. Which will make these backgrounds interesting. We will use sponges & different size paint brushes. We want to be able to create backgrounds that inspire.
The rest of the workshop we will take one background that inspires us, put together a collage using maps, music score, organza, sari silk & net. To bring all of this together we use hand stitching. Using simple & straight forward stitched.
I will demonstrate each of these stitches detached chain, couching, running stitch & French knots. You will have a piece of fabric where you can practice stitches you are not familiar with. The stitching will give texture & definition.
All materials Included.
You will have a selection of backgrounds to take home & experiment more with at your leisure.
About the Tutor:
Debs Davis
I am a textile artist based in Woodhall spa, Lincolnshire. I enjoy using a range of techniques in my work. These include free motion embroidery & printing, particularly collagraph. I combine these techniques to emulated the subtle yet vibrant colours & textures I see in nature. I love sharing techniques with others to help them explore their creativity.
