Alchemy in Line and Form:
There is a quiet magic in watching form emerge from the page – the delicate transformation of observation into substance. In her latest exhibition, The Flow of the Figurative Form, Cathy Servonat-Blanc invites viewers to experience this alchemy firsthand.

Her work, rooted in the figurative form, captures not just anatomy but energy – that spark of vitality that stirs beneath the surface. Each drawing is both a study and a meditation: an ongoing quest to make the complex simple, to translate the living world into tangible marks of charcoal, graphite, or paint.
Cathy says of her work: “Drawing from Life is a form of alchemy . It never ceases to amaze me how a form of energy can translate what is seen by the eye into something tangible in real time and space . The satisfaction of making all the pieces of the complex anatomical puzzle fit perfectly is an ongoing challenge needing constant practice and attention to detail. The trick is never to be complacent and always strive to be better . Otherwise what would be the purpose of the exercise ?”

“I don’t like to say too much,” Cathy admits, “as I think work is open to interpretation.” And indeed, the beauty of her drawings lies in that openness. Viewers are free to find their own meaning within the contours and gestures of her figures, to witness the intimate conversation between eye, hand, and heart.
The Flow of the Figurative Form reminds us that art is not just representation – it’s revelation.
